Caregiver Learning Through Play 2.0

Learning Through Play, Elevated

After reaching over 510,000 caregivers in 2024, the Caregiver Learning Through Play (CLTP) programme is back — designed specifically for caregivers with children between 0 and 6 years old and now featuring updated content, engaging tools, and even more ways for caregivers to support their children’s early learning through play.

For years, CLTP has shown that everyday moments can be powerful learning opportunities when caregivers are equipped with the right skills and confidence. CLTP 2.0 keeps the much-loved core elements, that promote responsive and playful parenting, with interactive games, stories  community play dates and peer support, while introducing fresh activities that connect directly to caregivers’ daily lives.

History of Caregiver Learning Through Play

The Caregiver Learning Through Play (CLTP) Programme is a capacity-building programme to ensure that Caregivers and ECD practitioners are capacitated to create a continuum of Responsive Care and Learning through Play opportunities for children between Birth and six years old.

The Programme was initially implemented by a consortium of ECD organisations, including Hope worldwide South Africa, Save the Children South Africa, Ntataise and ELRU.  It has been supported by the LEGO Foundation since 2021. The programme was implemented in 7 of the 9 provinces of South Africa and included digital resources to broaden the programme’s reach.

The CLTP Programme is a personal, interactive journey that strengthened the bonds between parents, caregivers, and children.

Structured in an engaging and supportive environment, the programme guided families through a series of practical sessions that focused on communication, play, and learning.

Each session was crafted to provide hands-on experiences and shared learning opportunities, allowing families to grow together while developing new strategies for everyday interactions.

Whether through group discussions, individual exercises, or cooperative play, the CLTP Programme offered a solid foundation for nurturing a loving and connected family unit.

Families enriched their lives and created cherished memories together.
