HOPE worldwide South Africa (HWSA) showcased its family strengthening programmes at the Department of Social Development (DSD) Social Development Month launch, held at the Brixton Multi-Purpose Centre in Gauteng.
The event was themed “Building Resilient Families.” It brought together government departments, non-profit organisations (NPOs), development partners, faith-based organisations, traditional leaders, implementers, and community beneficiaries. Importantly, the gathering created space to reflect on collaborative interventions that strengthen families across South Africa.
Evidence-Based Parenting and Early Childhood Development Programmes
At the exhibition, HOPE worldwide SA highlighted two key programmes that support families and caregivers. Firstly, the National Parenting Programme, implemented in partnership with the Department of Basic Education (DBE), provides parents and caregivers with practical guidance to strengthen positive parenting practices. Secondly, Caregiver Learning Through Play (CLTP) 2.0 equips caregivers with hands-on tools to support early childhood development through play and responsive caregiving.
Furthermore, both programmes align closely with the Parenting Policy Benchmarking Report. The report emphasises the need for multisectoral collaboration and evidence-based interventions. As a result, these programmes contribute meaningfully to stronger and more resilient families.
Community Engagement and Programme Impact
Visitors to the HOPE worldwide SA stand engaged directly with the team. In addition, they learned more about the organisation’s programmes. Meanwhile, caregivers and beneficiaries shared stories of positive change within their families and communities. These stories, therefore, highlighted the importance of investing in parenting support and early childhood development.
Strengthening Families Across South Africa
HOPE worldwide South Africa’s participation in the Social Development Month launch reaffirmed its commitment to empowering families. Moreover, the organisation continues to support caregivers and promote the well-being of children nationwide. Ultimately, HOPE worldwide SA remains proud to contribute to initiatives that strengthen families, build resilient communities, and give every child the best possible start to life.
