We were honored to welcome 28 passionate volunteers from the United States. They traveled to South Africa with Disciples Today and spent two full days serving alongside HOPE worldwide South Africa’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs. Their energy, compassion, and generosity touched many lives.
At two of the preschools we support, the volunteers encouraged teachers and brought joy to children through reading, games, play, and laughter. They also donated books and toys and helped prepare and serve nutritious meals. These small acts transformed everyday moments into lasting memories for the children and their caregivers.
The team also strengthened our Book & Breakfast Initiative, which addresses food insecurity and illiteracy. They distributed books and breakfast packs, led reading sessions, and assisted with surveys. Their work reflected our mission to build brighter futures through compassion, collaboration, and capacity.
Their presence lifted the spirits of children and caregivers. It also inspired and encouraged our staff. We were honored to have HOPE worldwide board member Michael Dames join the visit and witness firsthand the impact of our programs.
