HOPE worldwide SA proudly supported the Reggio Children’s Foundation (Italy) Conference, themed Play, Explore and Research South Africa held from 8-10 October. The conference focused on bringing together parents, caregivers, practitioners and other government and civil society stakeholders to discuss how to enhance a playful approach to learning. As part of this event, we hosted a visit to Mme Dimpho Hani Centre in Soweto, where Reggio led a workshop for 13 practitioners trained in the Caregiver Learning Through Play (CLTP) programme, and 20 caregivers and 17 children. This workshop offered insights into the Reggio Emilia approach.

On the third day, HWSA was able to present its CLTP programme at the plenary and facilitate a workshop as well. HWSA invited 60 caregivers from the CLTP programme to participate in the conference, gaining further exposure to Reggio’s methods and practices. We are deeply grateful for the chance to partner with Reggio and other like-minded organisations dedicated to nurturing children’s development through innovative and playful approaches.
